Once the designing bug gets you...it's impossible to ignore. I'm surrounded by fabric that I buy for my fabric department at<a href="http://www.thegrovesandiego.com/"> The Grove</a>, and of course I only buy what I like! So-o-o, I just can't keep my hands off them! I've designed a new Tote Bag, it crosses boundaries from Beaders to Knitters to those who are courageous enough to carry a multi-print bag! Let's just say they ARE colorful!</div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
The prints just didn't stay put on the bag, but jumped into a beadmat for beaders and then into a thread catcher (for both beaders, knitters and sewers). </div>
<br />

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
This sold really quickly...the thread catcher is gone already, but I've created a new line of thread catchers that will you'll see if you're in Milwaukee in June at the Bead and Button Event. I'll be in booth 410. After the show you can find them on my website: <a href="http://www.judipatuti.com/">www.judipatuti.com</a> <a href="http://www.judipatuti.com/"></a>and in The Grove!</div>

An accomplished musician, he started creating a different kind of music, using fiber instead of notes. His line is called Parson Gray and is a wonderful collection of pale blues, greys, creams and blacks infused with a definite masculine slant! <br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">They've been on order for months, and finally, have arrived! The most popular fabric in my collection at <a href="http://www.thegrovesandiego.com/">The Grove</a> every October....Calaveras! This time it's sprinkled with a little (just a touch) of gold bling and the skulls are striking against a midnight black background. Great for draping over your table for October Parties or creating a cool shirt or gypsy skirt to welcome the one night each year that the dead "officially" visit our planet! </span><br />

Indigo Skulls is a new design this year I just couldn't resist! Navy blues and reds outline the laughing skulls on a warm cream background! A friend saw it last week and is already measuring windows in her new apartment for this edgy fabric. </div>

Mostly the naturals - cottons, wools, linens, silks, but I specialize in contemporary cotton prints that I offer to customers at <a href="http://thegrovesandiego.com">The Grove</a>.<br /><br />On a daily basis, I walk out of the house, since I price my fabrics at home before taking them to the store, picking threads off my clothes as I rush to the car. Si</span><span style="font-family:georgia;">nce I usually wear black, it's pretty noticeable. </span>Last week I found threads on one of my front yard bushes...had to laugh!<br /><br />But today...after I had driven to work, driven to lunch and was getting in the car to go home again I saw this bright pink thread, from one of my latest fabrics, stuck to my tire! Now that's one determined piece of thread!<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi8rhFX-ut1n-UuM6rzlIpyFZ3a6QVRKJ5ZV8IiFFXVCDeMdjUeYYYdikGdpHVCnqiklVKh2vBHIVEobCXmtoZvJvHEjtJ11zylwKzDQ7CFx8f44KLbqZh-uTj5YVZvJlL-h5WBV5y-UMn/s1600/thread+on+tire.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi8rhFX-ut1n-UuM6rzlIpyFZ3a6QVRKJ5ZV8IiFFXVCDeMdjUeYYYdikGdpHVCnqiklVKh2vBHIVEobCXmtoZvJvHEjtJ11zylwKzDQ7CFx8f44KLbqZh-uTj5YVZvJlL-h5WBV5y-UMn/s320/thread+on+tire.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5584488150867065746" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;">I think I'll get a license plate that says "Fabric Lover"!<br /></div>Judipatutihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12220628980547593008noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4815399018985253982.post-80875945515381156022011-02-28T18:37:00.001-08:002011-02-28T19:07:19.854-08:00All Day Apron!And who wouldn't want to wear it all day? Lee and Charlene took the All Day Apron class at <a href="http://thegrovesandiego.com/">The Grove</a> and decided on two really different looks, but both in the "now" colors of sky blues and sea greens.<br /><br />Charlene used "Feeling Groovy" laminate from Michael Miller, which will be perfect when she's washing her dog! While many thicker laminates require a special "teflon" coated presser foot on your machine...this one was a cinch to sew without. She combined it with "Mingle", an abstract little open circle print in aqua and avocado ....<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Great combination Charlene!<br /></div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcoh-gD6UVSZ7XLp98-TAAS6Rf7Saa4JWHe0pkFg49zqVIKbrpW6pxFvHtpr5ij8FlQ4wE_Z2xks4Mi2pGaWsjmFST4k-Ak2QjHmjtsxjshbewmVRsbYIYU5qoA2i9XkvriNvykev4CHPf/s1600/charlene+with+laminate+apron.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcoh-gD6UVSZ7XLp98-TAAS6Rf7Saa4JWHe0pkFg49zqVIKbrpW6pxFvHtpr5ij8FlQ4wE_Z2xks4Mi2pGaWsjmFST4k-Ak2QjHmjtsxjshbewmVRsbYIYU5qoA2i9XkvriNvykev4CHPf/s320/charlene+with+laminate+apron.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5578939366190494658" border="0" /></a><span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Lee selected a fabric called Filigree from a new vendor - Art Gallery Fabrics and combined it with lime/aqua dots and gray piping peeking out at the neck and the pocket tops! Before I started selling them at <a href="http://thegrovesandiego.com">The Grove</a> I always bought fabrics for projects. But as my schedule became so packed, I ended up just "collecting" fabric (time for sewing got squeezed out)! And for those of you who do the same....you know space soon becomes an issue! So buying and selling is the Best of Two Worlds!<br /><br />I've been on a search lately for some fun laminates...something different than the vintage "cherrys" and "cowboys" and just got a shipment of two really cool </span><span style="font-family:georgia;">prints! They're actually called "Coated cotton", but are usually sold much wider than normal fabric, at 54" to 60" wide. Great for covering outdoor furniture, tables, making bibs, changing mats...all kinds of things!<br /><br />Here's my two latest...<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGnLG-wJq1BG5OYOFIZaLj16GIBL7tOL4l1Htwh-CBvlaR9125rNOlqaa1YL6SPgUKMdb0p88MLKnt6VxFhdKRzEyEjzjfVDTM2tu4oAwcQpWZtH_EIIjC13jWNBADWNwJC0qkpm9Dw6FO/s1600/IMG_1680.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGnLG-wJq1BG5OYOFIZaLj16GIBL7tOL4l1Htwh-CBvlaR9125rNOlqaa1YL6SPgUKMdb0p88MLKnt6VxFhdKRzEyEjzjfVDTM2tu4oAwcQpWZtH_EIIjC13jWNBADWNwJC0qkpm9Dw6FO/s320/IMG_1680.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573324312017289586" border="0" /></a><br /><br />They're both from Michael Miller...the one on the left is "Bicycles" and the other one is "Lil' Plain Jane". You might recognize the last one since I also have it in fabric too- the colorway is gray, citrine and white - a great color palette for interior design.<br /><br /></span><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family:georgia;">Stop in and see these great prints!</span><br /></div><span style="font-family:georgia;"><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /></span>Judipatutihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12220628980547593008noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4815399018985253982.post-2296544726281949592011-02-08T16:59:00.001-08:002011-02-08T17:27:00.952-08:00Scissor Sitter<span style="font-family:georgia;">January was full of buying trips...one to the LA Gift Mart to scan the aisles for any sewing totes or other fun things. Last year, this is where I found Amy Butler</span><span style="font-family:georgia;">'s stationary that I brought into <a href="http://www.thegrovesandiego.com">The Grove</a> to sell with her fabrics.<br /><br />I also traveled to TNNA in Long Beach, the knitters and needle work association's trade show. While there I noticed a booth for Puffin and Company. Susan (from The Grove) and I bee-lined it across the aisle and checked out her stuff. I love Puffin</span><span style="font-family:georgia;">s! They are one of the most colorful birds!<br /><br />While at her booth, Diane shared with us that the West Coast Puffin was the prettiest</span><span style="font-family:georgia;">, </span><span style="font-family:georgia;">even though there is an East Coast variety. I told her my Puffin story, that many years ago my husband and I took a trip up the east coast from NY and I insis</span><span style="font-family:georgia;">ted on stopping in Kennebunkport to see the migrating Puffins. Unfortunately, we were 2 weeks late....I still haven't seen a "real one". Guess I'll have to visit our famous San Diego Zoo for a live sighting!<br /><br />But what I did see in her booth were beautifully handmade pieces of art that are so useful for those of us that sew!<br /><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTVS_cUefDuaB8vsHrPTaswr4LZhDryHXQIOaXy2zeilHjVhtWQug67JcCWxQlkRGddhz7F6xM7pjfKo8qrr27i4-txovCxrRiU5PcPIHPWziArRVbK3YLyMw9OYLYjAYGz90IYmkyP9QO/s1600/scissor+sitter.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTVS_cUefDuaB8vsHrPTaswr4LZhDryHXQIOaXy2zeilHjVhtWQug67JcCWxQlkRGddhz7F6xM7pjfKo8qrr27i4-txovCxrRiU5PcPIHPWziArRVbK3YLyMw9OYLYjAYGz90IYmkyP9QO/s320/scissor+sitter.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571492592540004818" border="0" /></a></span><br />The scissor sitters have a strong magnet on the back that holds it "pin free" to your top - hook the scissor on the cord and then the magnet holds the scissor on the "lamb"! So cool! I couldn't resist, so I got the puppies, kitties, dove, heart (great gift for Valentine's Day) and of course the cute little lambie shown here.<br /><br />Susan brought in the stitch holders for knitters - so much fun! Check out <a href="http://www.swellsknits.blogspot.com">Susan's blog</a> for pictures of the stitch holders - or visit The Grove if you're in San Diego.<br /><br /><br /><br /></span>Judipatutihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12220628980547593008noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4815399018985253982.post-29630502057771007282011-01-11T16:18:00.000-08:002011-01-11T17:04:23.508-08:00Time for Wishes!<span style="font-family:georgia;">Seems like</span><span style="font-family:georgia;"> we were seeing Christmas in every store window and ad even before Halloween, and yet it seemed like it would never arrive. I'm always amazed at how creative we can be when we want to have fun and sometimes throw caution to the wind.<br /><br />One of my Grove students, Lee, decided after seeing the Tim Burton, Alice in Wonderland movie that Alice's dresses were a must have! And as soon as the opportunity presented itself...she got creatively inspired by the colors and grandeur a</span><span style="font-family:georgia;">nd decided this would be her Halloween outfit!<br /><br />After lots of fabric shopping for just the right colors, prints, tulle, hearts and bustier, she started cutting. On a "Drop in Sew" day at <a href="http://www.thegrovesandiego.com">The Grove,</a> I had fun helping her puzzle out the pattern and how to overlay and ruffle the fabric to get the</span><span style="font-family:georgia;"> right "look".<br /><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVCa5OUmTUVhQqVObDU4OoYjUYE4fhfRnfvtoOmUOU-fw83pCwccdHvHYGECMXFI72Vy6_B1TnaVV2ChKJmSl6NSCFFUa_kWGlne6NSQa-0-8Xpd6LKg8UaQ-NevChvHcP0HaR3dXjA6UB/s1600/IMG_1389.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVCa5OUmTUVhQqVObDU4OoYjUYE4fhfRnfvtoOmUOU-fw83pCwccdHvHYGECMXFI72Vy6_B1TnaVV2ChKJmSl6NSCFFUa_kWGlne6NSQa-0-8Xpd6LKg8UaQ-NevChvHcP0HaR3dXjA6UB/s320/IMG_1389.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5538714848428897426" border="0" /></a></span><br />Here's a shot of it almost done on the sewing table and then Lee, complete with Alice curls, modeling the finished dress! This year the looks were all very fun! We had a kitty, King, pixie, inmate, Wilma, and a witch to name a few. I had to attend a meeting off campus that day, so I threw on a quick outfit (when I returned)- Little Red Riding Hood, the 2nd from the right. The easiest outfit belonged to our CEO, who dressed in regular clothes with a sign "Nudist on Strike"!<br /><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"><span style="font-family:georgia;"><span style="font-family:georgia;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsJ9U8fvXGSYLG1lYQJ7vsWbNnUgXdUTg5MnY60v1XWPUqynPs2MqSdpvU1yHgUgYlvFpghOow4tdG7iqEeoGycLvPpy1dGCEo_0A5T8PW5biVEu5RsXy5dWBsSVE6D6EBxfTVnpL-z74m/s1600/FCC+on+Halloween.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsJ9U8fvXGSYLG1lYQJ7vsWbNnUgXdUTg5MnY60v1XWPUqynPs2MqSdpvU1yHgUgYlvFpghOow4tdG7iqEeoGycLvPpy1dGCEo_0A5T8PW5biVEu5RsXy5dWBsSVE6D6EBxfTVnpL-z74m/s320/FCC+on+Halloween.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5538715220571582082" border="0" /></a></span></span></span><br /> Hope you Halloween was fun and you saw<br /> lots of little "creatives" at your<br /> door!<br /><br /><br /><br /></span>Judipatutihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12220628980547593008noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4815399018985253982.post-82241838345849869492010-11-09T13:46:00.000-08:002010-11-09T14:20:57.876-08:004 Days in the Candy Store!<span style="font-family:georgia;">Well, it was a whirlwind 4 days in Houston! Weather was identical to San Diego...and the theater district surrounding my hotel offered up a delightful fusi</span><span style="font-family:georgia;">on of restaurants! Loved it! And even better was the time spent walking up and down and</span><span style="font-family:georgia;"> crisscrossing (many, many times) the floor of the convention center wanting to buy every fabric and pattern in sight! <br /><br />The booths were amazing...many vendors try to out do each other for the best booth and here's a few photos</span><span style="font-family:georgia;"> of some of the best!<br /><br /></span><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family:georgia;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBxErQSWCSVBpzQSxRx-fq-OuTMi_EvnyqPVNrt-C-dJ0CsNhMTRN5bdg4m4aaAAy5VOsUOBO8yRNQpXde7uhKa4Di7aoeyILgBACFAzlZPBO-_aHY6s8FHJJY4TfZEVzBtGN5sbqejJCo/s1600/IMG_1432.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBxErQSWCSVBpzQSxRx-fq-OuTMi_EvnyqPVNrt-C-dJ0CsNhMTRN5bdg4m4aaAAy5VOsUOBO8yRNQpXde7uhKa4Di7aoeyILgBACFAzlZPBO-_aHY6s8FHJJY4TfZEVzBtGN5sbqejJCo/s320/IMG_1432.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5537674354574177762" border="0" /></a></span><br /></div><span style="font-family:georgia;"> Michael Miller Runway!<br /><br />Michael Miller Fabrics staged a 50's Prom night c</span><span style="font-family:georgia;">o</span><span style="font-family:georgia;">mplete with runway, big white vinyl-tufted "diner" booths for us to sit at and order. Leaving tomorrow to buy fabrics for "Fabrics at <a href="http://www.thegrovesandiego.com">The Grove</a>" and for my judipatuti Beadmat production. Once a year I travel to Houston for the largest tradeshow of fabric vendors in one place, at one time that specialize in cottons.<br /><br />I've been to the textile shows in Los Angeles for apparel manufacturers and they're great shows but don't compare to the Houston Quilt Market for highlighting 100% cotton fabrics!<br /><br />Last year I met Amy Butler and Anna Maria Horner - both very personable, warm and amazingly talented textile designers. I expect to meet more emerging talent this year and buy their fabrics. I have also met some pretty talented pattern designers and will keep my eye out for new pattern lines to sew!<br /><br />Yes, I'll take lots of pictures to blog about what's coming!<br /><br />I also plan on scoping out unusual and colorful fabric combination's for my next Beadmat production. Will be setting the production schedule once I settle on the fabrics and their ship dates!<br /><br />While I planned on wearing Winter clothes - you know - wools that I never get to wear in San Diego, I just found out they're having 80-85 degree weather! Guess I'll be leaving my warmies in the closet and my coat and umbrella hanging on their hooks!<br /><br /><br /></span>Judipatutihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12220628980547593008noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4815399018985253982.post-90370956068084903352010-10-16T13:56:00.000-07:002010-10-28T20:12:55.803-07:00The Return of the Beadmat!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6jiVFV849-FiItdD2FwpI3ksy3SWblNupzBmHoKJKlTniFeeAzi_A9snvBCC2wvt6_MyZPS-zFZv9wfPGLIqUAxohG0FjA1Fbxau9KEZIJ4D3_ewVrqbCuwxNiSowvqqV8etxIJjsI0I7/s1600/beadmat+boxes.JPG"><img style="float: right; The bottom fabric is from <a href="http://www.modafabrics.com">Moda</a>: "Spirit Panache", the next tier up is an Amy Butler fabric: "Star Paisley". The next one up is a great fabric call "Boutique Flower Pin" by Moda (looks more like Pomegranates to me)! And the last fabric is also from Moda, part of the Wonderland Collection called "Tweedle Dee".<br /><br /><br /><span><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz4uDHfYZD3kwURHrwOdx01tOnxAg_EWWYZWAaQtcm8JJ55J48zPNczBQ0UXuvt0CtuyqMjnfaW0Ya8O7oDsssVdq1AJmXL7TCeheww5vtPa4roFp5JQJ33ZMdkYiREx79JIZqK-VT9zuF/s1600/hamper+on+chair.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz4uDHfYZD3kwURHrwOdx01tOnxAg_EWWYZWAaQtcm8JJ55J48zPNczBQ0UXuvt0CtuyqMjnfaW0Ya8O7oDsssVdq1AJmXL7TCeheww5vtPa4roFp5JQJ33ZMdkYiREx79JIZqK-VT9zuF/s320/hamper+on+chair.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5528677498869002066" border="0" /></a></span></span><span style="font-family:georgia;"><br /><br />To combine fabrics easily.... first look for similar color palettes and be mindful of the print sizes. In my selection I put the largest print on the bottom to balance the large size of the bottom tier and put the smallest print on the top layer. I've found this to work well. Once you get more "daring" you can easily mix color palettes by remembering to pick up at least one color in the print and repeat it.<br /><br /></span><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family:georgia;"> Have fun! I used batting to back the fabric. Instead of cutting out the fabric I drew the pattern (on the right side of the fabric), put the batting behind it and satin stitched on my drawn line. Last I cut out the flower. It's really fool proof this way! PS: the satin stitch is just the zig zag stitch adjusted so the stitches are all snuggled next to each other.<br /><br />Don't you love the buttons? The small button is a new one I just brought into The Grove. Thought it would jazz the hamper up a bit when sewed on top of the colorful abstract button!<br /><br />I'll be teaching this class at <a href="http://www.thegrovesandiego.com">The Grove </a>on Sat, Oct 23rd! If you're not in the area...pick up the pattern, have fun shopping colorful fabrics and rev up the sewing machine!<br /></span>Judipatutihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12220628980547593008noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4815399018985253982.post-12961143116966840872010-10-11T16:38:00.000-07:002010-10-11T16:46:22.092-07:00Back to the Gym!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4wHNTOKT9dRrt7zpJIS747Q4nUieZevKQeIKPYD2ybxNzptY2FQWbXoWJPHx0nMWf5iivoiti7W67T7ECc8CS_W01-ihvn-U-ihXc-Z9khduvIWC2BNWUZ858cq6jEd-JHL46PkfONptV/s1600/IMG_1299.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4wHNTOKT9dRrt7zpJIS747Q4nUieZevKQeIKPYD2ybxNzptY2FQWbXoWJPHx0nMWf5iivoiti7W67T7ECc8CS_W01-ihvn-U-ihXc-Z9khduvIWC2BNWUZ858cq6jEd-JHL46PkfONptV/s320/IMG_1299.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5526938382441737330" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;">A few weeks ago Bridget and Jenny decided to make a back-pack in one of my classes at The <a href="http://www.thegrovesandiego.com">Grove.</a> Although the pattern was called "Gym Junk" from Vanilla House, they decided to use their packs for lots of other things and create something that was uniquely theirs!<br /><br />The pattern was supper easy, including the grommet setting technique used to run the shoulder cords through. Jenny chose a great fabric combination from Robert Kaufman called Mingle Espresso and Mingle Cocoa (don't you just love these names?). So in preparation for next weekend's Labor Day celebration I decided to make some "Pot Pinchers" to use for the </span><span style="font-family:georgia;">pork 'n beans pot! What's hot dogs without the beans? Right?<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9Qr70X7eyzQ0NPItn-VR2-fehdkzbpePhVFCqTWdZVwTzeOZi3kpW707AIbCqqQZ2l894WFmHpA73EK8jYnt0Qc6iW9p4tGQOerOoq8TEwpJjLNvBzCj7h8c6VSynAw1PW6Kz6ikLpG8O/s1600/multi+floral+2.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9Qr70X7eyzQ0NPItn-VR2-fehdkzbpePhVFCqTWdZVwTzeOZi3kpW707AIbCqqQZ2l894WFmHpA73EK8jYnt0Qc6iW9p4tGQOerOoq8TEwpJjLNvBzCj7h8c6VSynAw1PW6Kz6ikLpG8O/s320/multi+floral+2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5511342344582350466" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2gHpKZTURvbPAPu5g74X9zsYMXy6yEFcVg6Mh21hxD-nFwReR_2pHc89nozK7YrifdJXVDM8xyqxSrsvy9hyPPqaRF5pUDFoIlivfsIPuUNHDQUAMREu1STWnDo1VYg8-kD9fa314kEje/s1600/multi+floral.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2gHpKZTURvbPAPu5g74X9zsYMXy6yEFcVg6Mh21hxD-nFwReR_2pHc89nozK7YrifdJXVDM8xyqxSrsvy9hyPPqaRF5pUDFoIlivfsIPuUNHDQUAMREu1STWnDo1VYg8-kD9fa314kEje/s320/multi+floral.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5511342550133612914" border="0" /></a><br />Of course, I figured, I'd be the one using them since I made them out of <span style="font-style: italic;">floral</span> fabric. But much to my surprise, my DH said, that while he totally <span style="font-style: italic;">wouldn't</span> use the "rick rack" one, he loved the grey/black/citron printed fabric! It only takes a couple of hours to knock out one and an afternoon for a pair! While these particular pinchers don't go together...still have the other halves to make....you could mix and match using different patterns on different parts of the pincher! And the combination of fabrics and trims i</span><span style="font-family:georgia;">s endless!<br /><br />If you can't make it to <a href="www.thegrovesandiego.com">The Grove </a>for the class, pick up the pattern by "<a href="http://www.vanillahousedesigns.com">Vanilla House</a>" and get some fun fabrics and get ready for that weekend BBQ!<br /><br /><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"><span style="font-family:georgia;"><span style="font-family:georgia;"><span style="font-family:georgia;"><span style="font-family:georgia;"><span style="font-family:georgia;"><span style="font-family:georgia;"><span style="font-family:georgia;"><span style="font-family:georgia;"><span style="font-family:georgia;"><span style="font-family:georgia;"><span style="font-family:georgia;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwcE_gEgWl_4T5axiUe5Np85OWOWupKIX8-JoBXfhAiFqJjuRaGiD3RIUvkxNxr7OzH3W6M0Ph_VrMxMqU3SB1hXn1joOPplkH4gkAPhewF5lDvZTcz1ZwOAie3P1c043Ox9WvWvkFpiAW/s1600/pattern.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwcE_gEgWl_4T5axiUe5Np85OWOWupKIX8-JoBXfhAiFqJjuRaGiD3RIUvkxNxr7OzH3W6M0Ph_VrMxMqU3SB1hXn1joOPplkH4gkAPhewF5lDvZTcz1ZwOAie3P1c043Ox9WvWvkFpiAW/s320/pattern.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5511343312833857026" border="0" /></a></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span><br /></span><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family:georgia;">PS...not too early to think about Holiday gifts!</span><br /></div>Judipatutihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12220628980547593008noreply@blogger.com1
